Can Design of Your Home Slow Down Your Move?

Do you have a two-story house with a garage? How about stairs and a laundry room? Different constructional variations and unusual design of your house can affect the time it takes to do a move. On average, a standard size two bedroom house, with a kitchen, living room, laundry space, and fully stacked with furniture can take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to pack, load, move, and unload.
If you decide to pack yourself, in case you want to sieve through the items and decide what goes and what you can donate, or if you just want to cut the cost of moving, it also helps to cut down on time. Packing yourself can save you anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours on average. However, we always encourage you to let us pack it with our boxes, wrapping paper, and of course blankets and shrink wrap for the furniture.

designs. We can only imagine how the move would go in this house…

In addition to unusual design, things like lack of parking space close to the front door or the garage, and narrow stairs, all can slow down your move.

Two-story homes can slow down our movers by average 1.5-2 hours, however, it all depends how much furniture and boxes you have upstairs and how many rooms your actually have.

One of the longest moves our movers handled in the past included 16 hours of just packing 60 small boxes in the kitchen. It was a collector’s edition of plates, dishware, and small knickknacks. We strive to exceed our customers’ expectations. Though sometimes we have to sacrifice time in order to securely pack and safely deliver your treasured belongings.

Before you schedule a move, call us up and we can come out and do a free estimate of every room. That way we can let you know how long it will take for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® to do your move.
